Hi, I’m Nat - AKA The Yellow Jester!

I’m a Senior Digital Learning Designer, Multimedia Specialist, and full-time creative at the helm of Yellow Jester Studio. From high-impact video content to immersive eLearning, I create digital experiences that are human-centred, emotionally intelligent, and, above all, meaningful. I focus on solutions that look great, work smoothly, and make a real difference.

What I Do

I specialise developing digital learning experiences and video content, from concept to delivery, drawing on a creative skillset that includes:

  • Video production – Concepting, scripting, filming, editing, and delivering videos for training, events, promotion and more

  • Instructional design – Learning design & development strategy, storytelling, content development, storyboarding, learner empathy, ADDIE, DSAT and 5DI

  • Multimedia & gamification – 2D animation, audio, graphics, simulation design, game inspired learning and UI/UX that keeps learners engaged

  • Tools & tech –Adobe Suite, Articulate 360, Camtasia, Vyond, and lots more

I focus on clarity, accessibility, and creativity that respects the learner and the brief.

How I Work

My approach is rooted in human-centred learning design and driven by thoughtful innovation. Collaboration is key to how I work: Collaboration + Creativity = Impactful Outcomes! I don’t just build what’s expected, I look for what’s possible. I ask the right questions, clarify the purpose, and explore creative angles that others might miss.

I love storytelling! Whether it’s through video, interactive digital learning, or gamification. I focus on experiences that feel clear, accessible, and emotionally engaging, the kind of learning that lingers. I believe the best digital learning tells a story, one where the learner is part of the party and not a passive viewer. That means understanding people, their challenges, and what drives real behaviour change.

My working style is calm, candid and collaborative. I lead when needed, support where it counts, and always aim for smooth delivery. As a past colleague put it, I’m “unapologetically Nat” - and that’s exactly how I get results.

What’s with the name Yellow Jester Studio?

When I graduated high school, my teachers gave me a jester hat. It wasn’t a joke (well, maybe a little), but a reflection of how they saw me: creative, candid, playful, bold and just a little disruptive (in the best way).

The name is also a quiet tribute to my parents, who shaped the jester behind the brand.

My mum is an incredible visual and hands-on creative, with an eye for colour, design, and detail. She raised me on classic films, especially Danny Kaye musicals, and The Court Jester was always my favourite. Her artistic soul and sense of beauty still inspire how I see and shape the world.

My dad was the storyteller, a natural teacher and a magnetic communicator. He could spin a tale that pulled you in and made you feel something, plus he had a great sense of humour too! From him, I learned the power of narrative, voice, and emotional tone, the foundation of every learning experience I create.

The “Yellow” is a nod to my love of cosmic horror storytelling, particularly The King in Yellow mythos. Outside of work, I’m a TTRPG game master, writer, and world-builder. I immerse players in co-created stories and that creative energy carries into my professional work. I'm always thinking about how to structure a journey, evoke emotion, and make an experience unforgettable.

So yes - I’m the Yellow Jester, and proud of it! It means I lead with insight, create with boldness, and make learning just a bit more magical.

Outside the Studio

When I’m not deep in design or video editing, you’ll find me:

  • Running or writing horror TTRPGs (Call of Cthulhu is my jam)

  • Painting monster miniatures and animating spooky things

  • Composing music or playing classical guitar

  • Playing board games and social deduction games

  • Exploring how storytelling and game psychology can enhance real-world learning

  • Walking in AONB and taking a moment to reflect in nature

Let’s Create and Collaborate

I’m currently freelancing and open to new collaborations, whether you need a promotional video, a multimedia-rich training solution, or a fresh take on digital learning design.

Let’s make learning that has an impact with learners and products that clients are proud to deliver.
